Holder of the new record for sailing around the world single-handed against winds and currents, VDH is preparing "Adrien" for new challenges.
His next challenge
  Le "Channel The Channel Record Trophy (or the Channel Crossing record)
The starting line is Cowes (island of Wight), and the finishing line is Dinard.
For a monohull, the record is held in 14h 48’ 15’’ by the crew of a 60 VOR, the "Silk Cut", managed by Lawrie Smith, a British citizen, in July 1999. The "unofficial" record is held by « Adrien » and its crew since Monday 12 August 2002. They covered the distance in 11h 44’ 12’’, by improving the record by a little more than 3 hours. This time,
Jean-Luc will be alone aboard « Adrien ». He will be on stand-by from next 16 August.
 
Global Challenge
  On Tuesday 9 March 2004, by crossing the finishing line located between Cap Lizard and Ushant, Jean-Luc VAN DEN HEEDE brought the Global Challenge record down to 122 days 14 hours, 3 minutes and 49 seconds.

The Global Challenge is a sailing around the world record, single-handed,
with no stopover, and against the prevailing winds and currents during
most of the trip.
